Tour Stop 8 recap
March partners at Keshena: Amid the noise and dust of
construction the tournament went off without any major issues. 72 showed up to
tackle the $800 added modified single elim 9-ball tourney. The modified format
proved once again to be successful as it completed one hour or more prior to the
start of the partners event on Saturday. Kiley Wein of Marshfield won the 9-ball
by defeating Zach Marquardt of Green Bay.
The partner’s event brought 78 teams and was completed by
7:05 pm with a one set final. Easiest Money (Rick Surber and Misti Moede) went
undefeated by scoring a convincing win over the second place team of Turtle
Killerz with Shawn Wilkes and Mike Casey. Turtle Killerz was formed to defeat
the Dirty Turtles (Rick Weronke and Mark Hutchison). Apparently they got the
word as they did not show up to be slain by the Killerz. Shawn said it didn’t
matter, that they will continue to be hunted! Third place went to BS, Bob
Baehler and Bud Snyder. 4th was Larry Bezotte and Roger Cargin. Yes
Roger was using blue chalk all weekend!
We focus our attention on the upcoming day and one half
“LAST CHANCE TO QUALIFY” Mole Lake singles tourney on April 2nd and 3rd.
This will be the last tournament before the finals. With over 200 players not
qualified with their two times played, I hope to fill this 96 field up. The
tournament will end Saturday night which will allow almost everyone to make it
home for Easter dinner or supper.
We again thank Mole Lake for stepping up to do an
additional event. I met with Carter Casino and North Star. Both look more
promising for next season. I also plan to meet with Lake of the Torches,
Watersmeet and Chip In for possible events.
